Artmap Open Studios 2026
The Old Library, Barmore Road, Tarbert
Friday 21 August to Monday 31 August
After a gap at the Open Studios last year due to ill health I am really looking forward to showing my work once again, at The Old Library in Tarbert.
Early last year I did show some of my work at a small exhibition in Lochgilphead, a selection of pieces from over the last decade that reflected changes in my own life. Sadly I spent most of that exhibition seriously ill in hospital and had to undergo heart surgery. Then just a few months later I had a stroke on my Optic Nerve, which on top of Macular Degeneration has taken most of my sight away.
Nevertheless, I have continued to paint. Changes in mobility and sight has meant that my work has become more reflective of places I have been, the strong memories those spaces evoke and natural events that impact our world.
This year, in addition to some earlier work, I will be exhibiting pieces that reflect the change in direction my art has taken since I became partially sighted.
Through touch and natural instinct I have drawn on my imagination, real life events and my perception as to how landscapes have been created through the millennia and what 'might be' in a world where I can no longer truly see.
Exhibition Address:
The Old Library, Barmore Road, Tarbert PA29 6TW
